The Stages of Post-Construction Cleaning: Why Is the Final Clean Harder and More Important Than the First?

When the contractor hands over the project, you may be surprised that what you see before you needs hours of cleaning before it resembles the home you imagined. This is completely normal — but the right way to clean it differs entirely from ordinary household cleaning.

Stage One: Rough Clean

It begins immediately after construction work is finished and before finishing work. Its goal is to remove the large debris: leftover building materials, excess wood, wires, and dense piles of dust. Industrial vacuums and hand tools are used.

Stage Two: Detail Clean

It comes after the final finishing (painting, tiling, door installation). Its goal is to remove the traces of work: paint spots on windows, excess silicone in bathrooms, gypsum dust on electrical switches, and drip marks on tiles. The hardest stage, requiring specialized tools and materials for each surface.

Stage Three: Final Polish

The last stage before moving in. It includes polishing marble surfaces, cleaning glass with anti-stain products, sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens, and freshening the space. This stage is what gives the home the "move-in ready" look that impresses everyone who sees it.

Cutting down to a single stage means either dirtying what was finished or losing hours removing dust that could have been removed early and easily.

The Most Common Mistakes

  • Cleaning floors before painting work is finished means re-contaminating them
  • Using hydrochloric acid directly on marble ruins it forever
  • Wiping glass with newspaper or rough cloth scratches it with fine scratches that show in the light
  • Neglecting to clean ceilings and the tops of walls first drops their dust onto the cleaned floors

When Should You Call a Specialist?

If the area exceeds 80 square meters, or if there are luxury marble or wooden surfaces that need special care, calling a specialist isn’t a luxury but protection for your investment in the finishes.

Crystaleh offers post-construction cleaning at a price starting from 25 dinars with a free inspection to determine the exact cost.
